I have been in Chicago for almost a year now. In my old city me and my girlfriend had our favorite Mexican restaurant which had really good fondue like cheese dip as an appetizer. When I came to Chicago and ordered cheese dip it was shredded cheese that was melted and did not have the "Drippy" texture like cheese dip, it was more like cheese you'd find on top of a pizza. The only place that I found that has a cheese dip that is even close to the one I like is Uncle Julios Hacienda and that was just O.K. If any one knows of a restaurant that offers this please write and let me know, I live near the downtown area, and usually travel north if anywhere. Thanks!

Have you tried DeCero? It's in the West Loop and has great food. I do like their cheese dip and their guacomole is amazing! Other good ones are Adobo Grill in Old Town, and Lalo's is good too.

Hi Jospeh! El Platiyo is one of my favorite Mexican restaurants in the Lincoln Park area. It gets pretty crowded so make sure you make a reservation. My first choice is always de cero though so definitely take Elizabeth up on that suggestion. Hope you find some good cheese dip!

One of my favorite places is Mambo Grill. This past fall a co-worker took me to Mambo on Clark. Little did I know, I had found the most authentic Latin Cuisine in Chicago! I have been to so many Mexican and Latin places in the city, but the quality and uniqueness of the menu here is AWESOME. From the use of spices and peppers to the plantains and 1/2 price bottles of wine on Thursday...this place is terrific

Uncle Julio's Hacienda on North Avenue. Amazing queso. Rest of the menu is pretty good...shrimp dishes are done well.
It's a small chain, but good queso and great service, nice array of tequila. Loud, fun, homemade tortillas.

I like the dip at La Mojado in Oak Park. But then again I just like their food in general...
